I believe the tz setting should be whatever your camera is set to.
i'm not sure why this is required as the timestamps are supposed to contain
timezone info, but I think there are bugs.

Further testing seems to show that the 'tz=EST' option is NOT required.
What seems to be important is that the exfat-fuse file system type is used -
then time zone info seems to be extracted properly from the file time stamps
