How do I make a feature request? I looked at it a while ago, but I couldn't
figure it out. Do I need some kind of account?

Could you please file a feature request in our bug tracker [0] so it doesn't
get forgotten?
The reason why there are no blendif parameters is that it's technically
separated from all the darkroom blending. It just uses cairo's blend feature.
I am not sure if the blendif code would be fast enough to allow processing of
live view frames (but I didn't try).
