OK... that "worked", in that with that file in place, no barrel 
correction is made any more - even when I tell it the camera is 
something else.

I'm still confused about why darktable would apply a barrel distortion 
correction when it doesn't recognise the camera or the lens, but won't 
apply any correction when it recognises the camera but not the lens - 
even if you tell it the camera is another one it previously knew about 
(K7 or generic).

It's also odd that with that file in place, if I click the arrow at the 
end of the camera selection line,I get two choices (K5 and K5-II) but if 
I click the word "Pentax" on that line, I get the full menu. And then if 
I choose something from that menu, suddenly K5 and K5-II aren't 
selectable any more.
