With high hopes I selected a Lenovo/IBM product (Linux certified) with a 
2 Gb Nvidia card. The setup is not too bad to achieve cl operation but 
the further setup to allow vga output is onerous.

Do not believe for one moment that just buying a system with a decent 
graphics card will solve all of the problems. Under Linux this whole 
scene appears to be 'under development' by both the Linux community as 
well as by the card manufacturers.
