It is a Bug #9361
http://www.darktable.org/redmine/issues/9361

Until some one fixed this bugs, avoid collapsing grouped images to avoid
this issue then :)

You see the "G" icon next to the setup gear icons. If you move mouse over
and it's say "expand grouped images", that mean your grouped images are
collapsed. Then you will get this issue. All you have to do is click on the
icon once ...
