if you want to extend the parametric mask area by drawing shapes, you want
the `inclusive' mode. be aware that you'll need to invert all of the
(L,a,b,C,h) tabs selections before. if you leave any of those at the
default (full range and (+) at the right side instead of (-) ), the mask
will always be the full area.
this mode will select the union of the drawn mask and all of the other
masks defined by the tabs in the parametric part.
