Hi all,

I'm thinking of a new PC because my old laptop is really slow. Therefor I
would like to spent some money to get a fast computer. As I read the old
thread from darktable mailing list OpenCL can generate much more speedup than
a fast CPU. As I read last benchmarks it seems like the nVidia OpenCL
performance is really bad at the moment. Otherwise I was always sure that AMD
has bad Linxu support.

So does anyone knows which hardware would be better to use? nVida or AMD
graphics card? Does darktable support more than one graphics card for OpenCL
usage? Or could darktable use some co-processors like the nVidia Tesla for
OpenCL calculations?

How good is the darktable performance for multi threading? I checked some dual
socket workstations with 2 CPUs (Intel Xeon). Could darktable use 12 or 16
physical CPU Cores?

I would be happy to have some information about this.

Thanks

Karsten
