Have you try to select all your text, then toggle bold off ? 
If you don't see any difference, it's can be a problem on the font
itself.

It's look like a problem is related with the font, try another one.
You need a font monospaced (not sure if it's the write word in english,
in french we sayed "Police d'écriture à chasse fixe"

Try to open a already existing svg, like these present on darktable (on
my OS in on the directory /usr/share/darktable/watermarks/ )
or open any other one existing on your system : (most of them don't have
any text : find / -xdev -name *.svg )
