sorry to pipe in (slightly off-topic), a correction seems in order: in
Unix-land, ^Z is frequently used to stop (put on hold, not terminate) a
commandline process that's running in the foreground so you get the
terminal back (in shells that have job control). Using ^Z as "undo" was
imported from Windows when GUIs and graphical applications made their way
into unix.
That doesn't invalidate your argument that using ^Z for anything else than
undo in darktable is probably counter-productive :-)
