Not sure about the colour cast (I thought Canon was known for having more 
saturated reds than Nikon, for example), but
all of the other attributes are what I would expect.  The camera does more 
processing on images to produce a JPG than
darktable does.  Darktable tries to do as little as possible to give you an 
image to serve as the basis of your
processing.  The camera uses secret heuristics to "guess" the best image 
processing settings to provide as pleasing a
result as possible across diverse photographic conditions.

It's precisely this ability to vary the processing between images before 
throwing away any information that gives us the
biggest advantage over in-camera processing.  But you probably knew all of that 
already. ;)
