I would really recommend buying a mouse with a scroll wheel, then. This added input speeds up a lot of different tasks, and a mouse costs only 10 €. This thread started off with people working on the go, without a real mouse, just a laptop -- there you start thinking about substitutes like trackpoint + middle button. But for desktop users things are a lot more comfortable.
