Personally I just removed the database file when I went from git version to
1.4.2. My photos settings were restored from the .xmp files except exposure
(because of version mismatch). No big deal since I'm still learning DT and
don't have huge collections.

Hi,

I've been running DT from the unstable PPA without any problems until last
week. Now it takes about 6 min to start with DT at 100% CPU. Even after that it
takes the same time to switch modules. Not cool. There has been three updates
since the problem started but no help in my case.

So I tried to go to the stable version by removing DT and purging the PPA, then
installing the stable PPA and DT but it won't run. Running it from terminal I
get an error msg

[init] error: can't open new database schema
ERROR : cannot open database

Does anyone know how to go back to stable from unstable?  Any info would be
helpful. Ubuntu 14.04 64bit

Thanks,
Mika
