It wasn't judged stable enough to release with 1.6.  So it was disabled.

I don't think any darktable doco has been written for it.  You should have a 
look at the magic lantern forums on how to 
use their deflicker module.  I normally do something like:

Set the percentage thingo to 50% (not sure why the default is 100%, that 
doesn't seem to be a great default), then slide 
the exposure and black points to where I want them to be for the first image in 
the timelapse, then copy/paste it to the 
other images.  But I'm no expert on it, though I have managed to get some 
pretty good results.

I guess I'll be upgrading to 1.7 as soon as 1.6 comes out so that I can 
continue to use this feature.  In the meantime, 
I think your best bet is to downgrade to a version prior to the feature being 
disabled.
