Hi,

concerning the instructions to compile and install dt from source, I see
one general issue: The famous "make" -> "make install" procedure may be
nice and easy for installing programs, but it is a nightmare for your
distro's package manager, because he cannot keep track of the files you
saved/modified.

For most distributions there is the program "checkinstall", which
creates an archive that is suitable for your distribution (.deb, .rpm or
slackware) and installs the program through the package manager.
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/checkinstall
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=all&keywords=checkinstall
http://software.opensuse.org/package/checkinstall
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=checkinstall

Just replace "make install" with "checkinstall" (as root) and it should
be fine.
It might be worth mentioning in the instructions as it facilitates all
future upgrades a lot.

Michael
