Just use move from dt and select the new destination. I'm doing that all
the time. The old location (directory) will be removed if empty.

No need to do that except if you want to move lot of film-rolls. And
yes, you won't loose metadata.

When you click move you'll have a file dialog and the possibility to
create the new film-roll. But you have to move one film roll at a time.
