nice, i wasn't aware these x-trans pictures come out _that_ bad without a
ton of processing. looks to me like there is a lot of special treatment in
the jpg (lens correction, some local contrast, black point almost looks
raised a little), and especially a lot of bilateral filtering (texture
detail on that shirt looks washed out, the edge to his chin is
oversharpened on the other hand).
as far as the mosaic goes, a 3-step markensteijn demosaic with 5 times
colour smoothing looks almost good to me.
