-install from ppa
- symbolic link to /usr/bin/darktable (ubuntu)

If you start darktable-ppa with the link you will use the same library  
(/home/fritz/.config/darktable/library.db) as with darktable-git.
So be careful and backup your libraray, if you want to use both versions.  
It's all the time possible that the devs are doing any magic that will  
break your library.

E.g. for testing you can use each version with different libraries, by  
calling darktable with --library <library file>.
