Unfortunately, it only extracts keywords/tags only from IPTC. ATM I use 'exiftool -@ xmp2iptc.args ext jpg' to copy over xmp data to IPTC. This could be done with a lua script on export as well I think.
I guess it is more complex to write metadata to IPTC within darktable than simple copy like mentioned method above?
