for step one (the part about getting them out of camera, not curating) you
should have a look at "rapid photo downloader" which is meant for that job
once the image are in DT, I use rating for everything
reject for missed/out of focus
0 for uninteresting images
1 for image I want to process
etc...
note that you can choose what rating you want images to have on import
(somewhere in prefs, which allows you to use whatever value you want for
"unrated" Use that with rating-based filtering to optimize your curating
workflow
step 4 : you can optimize the standard workflow with favorites and
shortcuts. Most of my favorite modules have a shortcut to select them
quickly. I also added shortcut to quickly inc/dec the exposure and
blackpoint
The big difference I see between your old workflow and DT seems to be the
way you use collections. I never used LR so I don't really know but it
seems to me that the tool to replace collection in your use-cases is tags.
You can select tags in the collection module and thus see only a given tag
when you need to...
