Exactly, "not trying". "Rating" a photo is not the end purpose but for segrating the images you wish not to export. Not cool! Take it however you want, it was not meant in an insulting manner but observed conditions. You are reticent to endeavour to fit darktable to your methods and your methods to darktable. And rating images will allow you to accomplish your desires. And since you cannot control yourself in "clicking" on images, would be no more work. By all appearances from the statements you have made, you don't want darktable to fit, why continue? After all, darktable is a tool and one should not utilize a tool that doesn't fit the end purpose.
