I noticed the same so I right now I'm using one of two approaches to reduce
the noise of my Pentax k3: wavelets with an amount between 0.1 and 1 or
non-local-means with a strength between 0.05 and 0.3 and a parch size of 0,
sometimes 1.

Not always getting the same results so sometimes I also use the equalizer
and the nlm plugin to reduce chroma.

I used to give 1 to 3 rounds on the demosaicing but I noticed that even 1
sometimes destroys too much detail.
