Sorry about that.  I must have grabbed it at the wrong time while I was
experimenting.  I did see "denoiseprofile" in the xmp previously. Does
Darktable write the xmp with every change you make?

You were right to wonder about the filmstrip.  If I only switch images
via the lighttable everything looks right.  Re-exporting the images
after avoiding the filstrip, I don't see much of a difference visually. 
However, the jpeg files have gotten a lot smaller.  Also, looking more
closely, the jpegs do seem to have _some_ denoising applied.  They are
clearer than what I see in the darkroom with denoising turned off, but
not as clear as what I see in the darkroom with it turned on.  Maybe
that is a separate issue.

Given the feature freeze for 2.0, is the git master relatively stable? 
Does it expect newer versions of any of the libraries Darktable depends
on?
