For me the best starting point were video tutorials on Youtube by Robert Hutton.

Subject: [Darktable-users] Basics: Brightness, full screen, tutorial.
Hi, three questions I've got:
* There are different ways to change how bright an image is, at
least two are obvious:
- `Contrast Brightness Saturation/brightness` and those listed
in the manual there [1].
- `Exposure/exposure`
Which one should I use for which task, i.e., what is the concept
behind “changing brightness” as opposed to “changing exposure”?
* Is there a way to view a picture in full screen, without the grey
borders and the bright triangles? I know pressing Tab in
Darkroom, but that leaves the borders visible. The slideshow
thing seems not to work for me, but then a slideshow is not what I
seek anyways...
* I'm a bit overwhelmed by the possibilities. Does anyone have a
good tutorial on how to approach image processing in general?
Like “do this first on every picture, then that, then look for the
following issues, ...” and so on?
Thank you
Stefan
