Which image is which?

As a first guess I'd say that lensfun might not be producing as good results as 
AFAIK it doesn't 
take into account subject distance (i.e. the focus distance) into account when 
creating the lens 
profiles.  This can cause some slight differences in the correction required 
(for close subjects vs 
far away subjects). Lensfun uses the same correction for all images; your 
camera may be doing 
something a bit more sophisticated.

Just a guess.
