Hi,

The left/first is from the camera and the right/second is from
darktable/lensfun.

Thanks for the guess.  It would be unfortunate if it was the logic and
not just the parameters of the correction that were different.  I've
looked over the calibration docs from lensfun and have been looking
around for places to take good calibration images in the hopes that they
just didn't have enough to work with.  But that won't be sufficient if
the algorithm is different.
