I guess it won't work from within dt, if it doesn't work with gphoto2.
You've to make sure, that gphoto2 works.

I don't own a 60D but I used gphoto2 for some years with different Canon 
Cameras and from this positive experience I'd guess that it *should* 
work.
Make sure, the camera isn't mounted -- if it gets mounted automatically 
you've to unmount it before you can use it from gphoto2 or dt.
