What I cant see is how to create a field in another table which points to
that
composite key, as a master/detail link.
To do this you will need to set a Referential Integrity check on the Detail
Table using Database Desktop.
1 Choose Tools/Utilities/Resturucture from the DBD menu
2 Select the Detail Table
3 From the Table Properties drop down select Referential Integrity
4 Click the Define Button
5 Dbl Click the Master Table in the Right Hand list box
6 Link the Child Fields to the Parents fields in the list box
7 Selects the appropriate update rule (usually cascade)
8 Make sure that Strict Referential Integrity is selected
9 Click OK
10 Give it a Name
11 Viola!
Warning! Referential Integrity at the Database Level with paradox works
very well, but NEVER use an AutoIncrement field type as part of a Key
linked to Referential Integrity (when the AutoInc field finally craps out
[and it will eventually] you will have to break all your RI relationships
to be able to fix it) - you will loose hours/days/weeks repairing.
