Help. I'm having horrible problems getting IB6 Superserver to run on Red Hat
Linux 6.1 ( version 2.2.14-5.0 )

I used the RPM install and all went well.

However, I've been unable to connect to the server and the FAQ on the
situation is too brief to be any help.

When I try to run ibmgr or ibserver directly the log file shows the
"connection rejected for ..." message regardless of the user I log in as.

After reading the FAQ I tried using ISQL to connect to a local database
/opt/interbase/samples/employee.gdb ) but it then told me :

Unable to complete network connection to host "localhost".
- failed to establish a connection
- connection failed.

I've added a line for "localhost" in the /etc/hosts.equiv file, rebooted,
and tried again (after making sure the server wasn't running with "ps aux |
grep ib" )
but nothing seems to work. I'm sure the problem is something trivial, but my
knowledge of Linux is still pretty slim.

If I can't get this to work they'll make us use MySQL as a backend for our
next web project (Aaarrgghh).

Suggestions or anecdotes would be appreciated.
