Dear [email protected],
There is a new reply by AbbyT to the topic at the DataCleaner forum: How to
Uninstall so I can reinstall?
-------------------
Hi Kasper,
Thanks for your reply. I've come up with a few follow up questions related to
the install process that I was hoping you could answer for me.
The earlier issue I was having(exiting the application) has since been resolved
but other error messages have cropped up and I’m not sure how to begin to
troubleshoot them.
As a Rookie to DC, I became familiar with an older version (not sure which now)
of DC Monitor that I had used successfully for over a year and I really love
the Desktop interface. I'm not at all familiar with the cmd version or how to
alter any of the code behind it so many times looking through these forums for
support has me reading information that is way over my head.
In December I was given a new 64 bit Windows 7 work computer. I've been
re-installing needed software and apps since. I should also note that I have
Java, jre7 installed in my (x86) Program files. Previously I had a 32 bit
machine with WinXP.
First off upon install (Dec2013) I was asked to choose a directory folder to
house written dataStores. I chose the default (C:\Program
Files\DataCleaner\datastores) but then later had an error message appear,
essentially blocking collection to this folder. I figured this was Win7 being
too protective about administrator rights on folders so I changed the
compatibility mode in the DC properties to reverted back to running the program
in compatibility with: Windows XP (Service Pack 3). That seemed to create a
comfortable work around. This is good because it became a big hassle to upload
12+ dataStores to have them wiped out after every time I exited the app.
Leaving me to start from scratch with each application launch, irritating.
This leads to my first question. What would you consider to be the most stable
or best version of DC Monitor for me to install on a 64 bit Win7 box? Is there
a version out yet that is compatible on a 64 bit machine?
Unlike with other open source apps I've installed, I'm not finding the typical
“installation requirements” listed to help the end user determine which is the
best selection to make by version. I see that the download packages are split
by: MS Win, Linux, Apple/Mac, etc. I guess I was just looking for more details.
I don’t mean to sound critical about the website or services as DC has been so
useful! I did read in the News section that the website would be getting an
exciting new facelift. If it’s possible I have a few suggestions I’d like to
offer for website improvements if it’s not too late. I tried logging in to
eobjects.org to request feature/bug fixes but my DC account login info was not
recognized on this site. Do I need to set up a separate account to log in there?
Tangent sorry…At this point I can import a dataStore, analyze it using the
various tools. I can exit and relaunch DC without having to reload my previous
dataStores. I can even save out my HTML and .dat analysis results to the
default folder (New for compatibility mode Service pack 3: C:\Program
Files\DataCleaner\jobs) without incident.
What I can’t seem to find is the option to save results as a csv? Has this
option been relocated in 3.5.7?
I’m not familiar with .dat files or how to use/compile them so typically I find
them unusable for my needs.
Where I start to get error messages is when I try to apply “Save/Save As” to an
analysis job. Is there a fix you can suggest for this? Sorry if this is not the
right place for a stackTrace but I not able to explain the error otherwise as
the message is like translating hieroglyphs.
Errors in job
Message:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: No Analyzers or Explorers in job
Level:
SEVERE
Stack Trace:
No Analyzers or Explorers in job
org.eobjects.analyzer.job.builder.AnalysisJobBuilder.isConfigured(AnalysisJobBuilder.java:659)...
I'd add the whole stack into a separate text box if I knew how. But hopefully
this will be enough for now. If you need the rest let me know I can sent it.
Thanks for the help!
