Sam isn't maintaining the DO gems anymore these days, I am. So if you want a response to the pull request, you can better send it to me ;). We are planning on a spec rewrite for DO, because the current quality of the specs is pretty poor. We are planning to make a shared spec suite that can be run against all of the different drivers. This allows us to get good coverage without having to write the same things over and over again and also allows for ensuring that the API works consistently over all different drivers. If you're interested in helping out this spec rewrite, please let us know!
