Hello, I am a newbie to maps and was really interested in learning how to make them.
I wanted to know the tools used and also what exactly is "mapping". Also while making maps, are we using geographic data from satellites or are we also using ground surveys for it as well? Basically I wanted to know how to get started making maps which i could contribute to open source mapping projects like datameet.
