Hi Manas (and others) I would like to help organize a "Getting Started with Maps" meetup/session/event if there is enough interest -- even though the session would be targeted for newbies -- we'd need some experts and intermediate mapping folks to help with instruction, troubleshooting, etc.
I can provide a venue with an overhead projector and high speed internet connection with plenty of desk space, and to make it accessible for everyone, we could even start with a free session. Would anyone be interested in getting together to organize such a meet? please do feel free to email me directly at [email protected] if you have any questions, thanks again Kavita Arora On Mon, Jun 20, 2016 at 9:32 PM, Manas Sharma <[email protected]> wrote: > Hello, > > I am a newbie to maps and was really interested in learning how to make > them. > > I wanted to know the tools used and also what exactly is "mapping". > > Also while making maps, are we using geographic data from satellites or > are we also using ground surveys for it as well? > > Basically I wanted to know how to get started making maps which i could > contribute to open source mapping projects like datameet. > > Thanks, > Manas > > -- > Datameet is a community of Data Science enthusiasts in India.
