You may share cached data using a network >system, or simple copy from one PC to another on update. Hardware still needs to be bought, but we're aiming at clustered dual 64bit xeons/opterons with some kind of shared raid-storage (fiber channel or striped u320-scsi etc) and dedicated sql servers for the DB. We will not be using a lot of the extra features such as synonyms, langmaps etc, just basic indexing and word searches, also no stored. Re-indexing will almost not be done, once the indexed pages are into the database we will hardly ever re-index, so from what we understand we don't need to spend much time/effort for the CacheD, just the SearchD, web-frontends and sql servers. Providing the hardware can support it, is searchd able to handle over 2000 search queries per second ? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Read the full topic here: http://dataparksearch.org/cgi-bin/simpleforum.cgi?fid=03;topic_id=1160146766;reply=1160212417
