Many thanks Maxime for your help; I will prepare all config files and send you tonight ;) Meantime since I increased the number in file-max to 131072 everything seems to run smoothly (daily update and normal search requests) but I found a new strange detail when doing ps: Before updating to 4.46 my cached process was always appearing in ps output like: /usr/local/dpsearch/sbin/cached -w /home/var and today cached is still listening on its usual port and working correctly but it appears in ps output no more under old label above but only with 3 processes labeled similar to the following: -Log D62 updated in 0.47 sec. r OR like -Log D65 updated in 0.16 sec. r These labels are changing from time to time; maybe this new behaviour could be linked with my "too many open files" problems ?
