No. You can't choose the output format programmatically.

The output format has to be selected on the report options screen. However,
if no disk filename is specified on the initial report setup, you can't
select the output format. By specifying C:\NUL as the disk filename, you are
then allowed to select WP format if you want to.

C:\NUL is a special filename recognized by the operating system that isn't
actually a file but instead discards any output sent to it. Note that ANY
filename could be used as the initial output file on the report options
screen. But since the filename that is actually wanted is determined within
the report via a formula, using C:\NUL eliminates having a dummy file
created at the outset of the report.
