Hi Tim, I tried something along those lines but without success - maybe I did something wrong! I set up a Codes Panel with four A1A1 fields for Bold On, Bold Off, U/L On & U/L Off plus a Link Field which just contained the words "Codes Link" - this had an Index. In the Contacts Panel, I created a Link Field again containing just the word "Codes Link" and a Link to the Codes Panel - this all worked and I could go through the link correctly from the Contacts Panel to the Codes Panel and see the characters in the various fields. In the Contacts Panel, I modified my conditional text field formula from just "Payment Overdue" to Bold On Code "Payment Overdue" Bold Off Code - the codes being the appropriate fields accessed through the link to the Codes panel but all that showed up were the characters from the Bold On & Bold Off codes with my other text. The way I found the codes to enter for the various functions in the Codes Panel was as follows: Created a WordPerfect file (in my case WP9) with well separated words that were Bolded & UnderLined. Saved this file as a WP4.2 file . Opened this file in Office Editor 3.1 and looked at the codes surrounding the Bolded & Underlined words. Entered the decimal equivalent of these codes into the appropriate field of the DP Codes Panel using Alt-Numkeys. The codes were: Bold On: 9D Hex Bold Off: 9C Hex U/L On: 94 Hex U/L Off: 95 Hex Michael Tim Rude wrote: Hi Michael, First of all, you can never have bold or underline codes inside a formula. The fields were then populated by importing a carefully crafted merge file created in WordPerfect. You then had to link to this panel and concatenate these fields with your data to get the codes into the field via the formula. All in all a clever workaround but a real pain in the pumpkin to implement. It would be nice if we had functions like bold[text] or underline[text] to do this, or if the bold and underline codes inside a formula definition worked but . . . How badly do you want to do this? When I press enter or click on "OK", I am returned to the previous Define Field screen and can return to the panel but the Field does not display at all under any conditions. Going back into Define Field - Define Field Formula (Option 2) and deleting the Bold codes corrects this but I am again left with plain text. I am obviously doing something wrong but I am not sure what. Is there a way to achieve what I want?
