Don's solution seems much more accurate. But there's always the problem of where in the month each date is. Consider these two dates:
Jan 28 2000 Mar 01 2000 Well, they're only 1 month and a few days apart. Do you want that to be counted as 2 months or 1 month? I think on Don's scheme, the above separation between dates will be 2 months, and on mine, 1 month.
