Of course, if you do what I suggested, all those fields you want some
users to be able to edit will have to be editable now.

Happy New Year ...
Can't you just define the Rights one has when entering the panel via
this or that menu choice. Here are the choices for any given menu item:
Read-Only
Read-Write
No Delete
Create Ok - No Edit/Delete
So one menu item (the main one), enters that panel Read-Only. The
special menu item enters that panel via one of the other 3 options.

Greetings and salutations,
In my library automation application I have a panel with non-editable
fields
that show info based on whatever barcode number is scanned into the one
editable field of the panel. The idea is to speedily enter the barcode
data
and then create a new record right away. Most users of the application
like
this and use this panel without a problem. However sometimes one of
them
wants to edit data in one of the non editable fields. I would like a
way
to permit a user - coming to the panel from a different menu choice -
to be
able to edit more than the one field. I suppose I could have an exact
duplicate of the panel but with more than one field editable. But Is
there
a better way to do this?
Best regards,
Larry Neuton
