To all: The entire time of this discussion on DP in win7, I assumed DosBox was just the window microsoft produces when DP was running. I didn't realize it was the emulator program Dosbox. Anyway, the window method (built into windows) for running DP seems to work in win7/32 but no full screen. Having said that, I really have tried all the functions in it yet because I have to change all my reports (50 of them) to HTML output. On the other hand, DP can't be started in win7/64 Looks like DosBox is a no go for win7/64. I am currently configuring: 1. VMWare 2.5.5 build 328052 runtime (free download for this) 2. Ubuntu 11.10 x64 linux free download. This is available as an appliance, when you open VMWare, first screen has link to obtain this. Everyone tells me Ubuntu is the best for linux. 3. will download DOSEMU next, I have a friend who runs his DP in this for years without problems. So, will have to report to you all later on this. Regarding virtual XP machine robert mentioned, are we referring to microsoft's XP emulator or something like VMWare setup above? Jon

I had tried running DP under DosBox when I was running 64 bit Vista, and found it very unsatisfactory - a major limitation was my inability to use cut, copy and paste to and from other applications. I make extensive use of copy and paste both for data entry and for copying information from DP to other applications. Also, under DosBox, I don't think i is possible to import data except from files in the DP directory I switched to running DP - and WP5.1 - by running it in a virtual XP machine, and with a little tweaking was able to copy and paste from DP to applications running under Vista as well as under XP, and ready access to all the drives and directories on the whole computer Robert On Tue, Feb 12, 2013 at 2:03 PM, Don Friedman <[email protected]> wrote: I know that there has been discussion about this but I can't seem to find a way to search it out on the main site. Is their a trick to that? I've finally "grown up" and put a couple of Win7/64 boxes in the office. I'm assuming that I can run dosbox to run DP without much trouble - I never have a need to print from DP and if I remember right that was part of the problem. Am I on the right track here? I'm assuming that it will still be faster to run DP via dosbox on my newer machines than to run them on my older XP machine.
