Hi Michael,

I suspected as much, having had similarly frustrating things with a Novell
Client years ago. I am not sure if Microsoft has a modern day Novell Client,
it's not something I work with any more. I have been quite enthused with
VDos as a means of overcoming the Win-64 hurdle. It will be interesting to
see how it works in conjunction with Netware, once you get this client issue
out of the way.

Don Friedman has been having some performance issues with vDos and Win-64
with long reports, have you run long reports under vDos? I do not have any
serious (ie paying) uses for DP anymore; so I am only running it as a the
database for a web application on a Linux web server for a soccer club
communications management, so my reports are all quick ones - you can't
leave web users hanging around for long reports. Until vDos it has been
annoying when I needed to bring the data offline for maintenance, as I was
loading up a VMWare virtual machine to run it, now it is so much easier.
But fortunately I have not had any issues with DP. In fact this web
application has been running flawlessly since 2006, and at one time, I had
40 current executions of DP, and DP just sailed through with it.

I think DP has still got some life in it. I try to replace my PC's about
once every 3 years, if they are still in relatively good condition, I set
them us as specialist servers rather than junking them or giving them away.

Good luck with you Novell issue

Bye
Brian

users

Hi Brian
Great to here from you, I always read very intently what you have to say in
your posts.
You should see from the other post we did solve our problem and yes it had
to do with the client. We have been runing on xp now for a long time with
out any problems except for forgetting to turn caching off once in a while
on a rebuild or re-install. but our boxes are getting old and parts are
failing so it is time to get new hardware, If the new hardware is as good as
the old ones we will be good for another 10 years. By then I hope to retire
and the younger generation can figure out what to do then.

Thanks
