This is because strftime's format specifiers suck. And since the module
is brand new with a brand new interface, aiming to get rid of old sucky
things, why don't we get rid of strftime?

($year, $month, $day, $hour, $min, $sec) = datetime_obj->extract('yyyy',
'mm', 'dd', 'hh24', 'mi', 'ss');

OK, I understand that's a bit far-fetched, and this is because all the
free software world uses strftime. But someone must make this change
happen, otherwise we'll be using strftime for centuries. How about
making both strftime and an alternative, and see how people respond?

I've a table summarizing format specifiers for strftime, Windows,
Oracle, and Delphi, at
http://www.itia.ntua.gr/intranet/development/dateformats/.
