Sorry, I didn't mean for you to take it that way.  I'm not making fun of
you, I'm making fun of MakeMaker.  While it's reasonably stable for
end-users just installing modules, it's a horrible nightmare for module
authors trying to do anything outside of MM's pre-defined limits.

And it's not robust at all, as any new development done on it tends to
break any platform that the maintainer (Schwern) doesn't have access to.
