That came off wrong. I still think the best thing to do, rather than maintain a perl's reimplementation of strptime is to move dt:strptime into dt:strptime:pp and make dt:strptime a factory for dt:strptime:pp and a new :xs version that uses a POSIX binding through POSIX::strptime. Something kind of like the text:csv setup.
