Hi Andrew, I was in your position about 6 months ago. One of the resources that helped me a lot in the early days was the on-line training at ti.com. These are free. I found them much better than books for getting started because there are some good overview presentations.
Also, unlike with a book, where things are normally in depth and you have to make a conscious effort to pick it up and read it, you can just watch these on your PC and let someone else do the work. In particular have a look at some of the DaVinci presentations here: http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/training/trainingevents.tsp?familyId=44 HTH Ben -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Andrew J. Although analog video design is no problem for me, I'm quite new to the digital video and DSP area. I'm wondering what resources, either books or online can help to get a grasp of not only digital media processing but also how to choose the DaVinci processor that is right for a specific application. Even just a functional block diagram showing the logical parts of a typical application in terms of code, hardware blocks and external devices required. Do the evaluation modules for the various DaVinci chips come with this sort of introductory info? I really just need a gentle introduction to how to think about developing a digital video application, and some of the major pitfalls. Perhaps this sort of thing would be good to have on the Developers Wiki. Anyway, I'm really excited to get started, but want to make sure I understand enough to steer myself in somewhat the right direction. :) Andrew -- Andrew Kilpatrick, Lead System Developer Onestop Media Group Inc. phone: 416-646-7867 x63 fax: 416-646-2722 _______________________________________________ Davinci-linux-open-source mailing list [email protected] http://linux.davincidsp.com/mailman/listinfo/davinci-linux-open-source _______________________________________________ Davinci-linux-open-source mailing list [email protected] http://linux.davincidsp.com/mailman/listinfo/davinci-linux-open-source
