Winy,

Are the USB modules loaded on your system. i.e. usb_storage. Can you
please provide the output of lsmod on the board when it has booted up?

Subject: Re: Unable to detect USB(pen drive) while booting with u-boot
1.2.0

Hello all,

I am unable to detect USB mass storage device ( pen drive)
which is inserted in the davinci board, when board boots up. This board
is flashed with u-boot 1.2.0

In the u-boot1.2.0 source code, in .doc/ README.usb document, it is
mentioned that

"The USB (at least the USB UHCI) needs a frame list (4k), transfer
descriptor and queue headers which are all located in the main memory.
The UHCI allocates every millisecond the PCI bus and reads the current
frame pointer. This may cause to crash the OS during boot. So the
USB_MUST_ be stopped during OS boot. This is the reason, why the USB is
NOT automatically started during start-up. If someone needs the USB he
has to start it and should therefore be aware that he had to stop it
before booting the OS."

Also, the configuration parameters to be used are,

CONFIG_CMD_USB enables basic USB support and the usb command

CONFIG_USB_UHCI defines the low level part .A low level part must be
defined if using CONFIG_CMD_USB

CONFIG_USB_KEYBOARD enables the USB Keyboard

CONFIG_USB_STORAGE enables the USB storage devices

I have tried enabling above parameters, but the code was still unable to
detect the usb storage device.

It would be really very helpful, if someone could give me hint to the
solution, as to which files and parameters should I manipulate.

Thanx in advance for the help !!

Regards,

Winy Verma
