Hi Swami,

The problem is that the device (zydas 1211b based WIFI dongle) enumerates as a
2.0 device, but the drivers doesn't work in that mode.

I just get error messages and hangs or severe slowdown. So unless I can get the
drivers to work (which I doubt), I'm going to have to force the usb host to run
in 1.1 speed.

Fredrik Redgård

Fredrik,

UDB Host will automatically work at 1.1 speed if the device enumerates at 1.1

Hi,

Can someone please help me force the USB host to 1.1 mode so I don't have to
use a hub?

Hi,

Thank you Swami for your help.

I now have a 3com dongle (3CRUSB10075) working on the DVEVM, but I had to use a
USB1.1 hub to get it working and I can only get 11Mbit connection.

I have updated the kit/software to 1.20, and I have tried the following drivers:

1. ZD1211LnxDrv_2_15_0_0 without the patch
(http://linux.omap.com/pipermail/davinci-linux-open-source/2007-February/002478.html)

2. ZD1211LnxDrv_2_15_0_0 with the patch

3. ZD1211LnxDrv_2_22_0_0

All three fail without the USB1.1 hub.

Is there any way I can get the dongle to work in High Speed (USB 2.0) ?

Or how can I set the USB host to USB1.1 mode so I don't have to use a hub?

I am attaching outputs from the above three cases, and a fourth:

4. ZD1211LnxDrv_2_15_0_0 with the patch and USB 1.1 hub (working)

Fredrik,

You would have to apply the latest patches on the MVL401 base kernel to get the
USB functionality to support USB WiFi dongle.

Many customers have used the Zydas 1211b based WiFi dongle with DaVinci USB.

swami

Subject: USB WIFI

Hello,

I want to use WiFi with the DVEVM6446 kit, preferably using a USB WIFI Dongle.

Has anyone successfully used wifi with this evaluation kit?

I have found a lot of messages from people who have had problems with USB and
wifi with davinci, but I haven't seen any solutions.

Looking at the version of montavista linux that comes with the kit
(2.6.10_mvl401), it doesn't seem to have support for wireless networking?

Fredrik Redgård
