I don't know about the DM355, but for the DM6446 we used CENTOS. See the following link for the details: http://www.cannasoftware.com/content/view/29/1/ Once we did that, we were able to install everything just fine. FWIW, we run Gentoo and VMWARE (CENTOS is a guest). Hope that helps!
