So you've been using the ASoC drivers + new EDMA found in Kevin's asoc branch successfully? Did you merge the EDMA with the current git or did you back port it?
Nope. I gave them a try, but ran into ALSA lib issues and stopped pursuing it (though it probably would've worked had I kept at it - Kevin's had it working).
Also, we've practically given up on waiting for 2.6.18+ to show up from MV, but it seems the git has had a ton of activity and fixes lately.
It's getting there, yeah. TI have expressed interest in fixing up some outstanding issues on the git kernel recently. The biggest advantages to us are being able to the awesome new fruit in the vanilla kernel such as UBI, UBIFS (coming soon), random USB wireless adapters, deferred I/O framebuffer support, the new UIO userspace driver framework, and so on.
About the only thing I miss from the Montavista kernel is integrated KGDB (but that's hitting mainline soon anyway). Oh, and the current VPFE driver in git is in a state of neglect. I appreciate that Montavista support it and have stabilised it, but they could be making life much easier for themselves by moving forwards, IMHO :)
