Renjith,

Just wanted to know whether you have considered any other options.

What is your bandwidth requirement ? Is it say 1-20MB/s, >20MB/s

Swami

Is it some thing wrong in this ?
Or any other suggestions ?

I need more bandwidth, so thinking of using PCI.
Does mvl-linux support driver for Host-davinci and target davinci.
Any suggestion is appreciated ..

Hi swami,

Many thanks for the mail.
Let me tell you the requirement first.
We are looking into, process 4 Video/Audio Channels (capture, encode,
save,stream to Net, decode/display).
So one Davinci may not be sufficient.

So planning for 2 Davinci , whereas Slave (pci) Davinci chip will
1. Capture and encode 4 Videos (720x480) and 4 Audios, and encode to
compression.
2. The Second (Host) Davinci will get it through PCI (as we thought as first
plan) or Other Interface &
3 . The Host will save the streams, stream 4-AVs thru Network, Decode and
Display 4-Ch at TV-Out with Quad mode.
As we need more band width for the interface , initial thought was to use
Davinci s PCI interface.

have not think about USB yet. Which one does normally preferred.

If it is PCI interconnection , does linux support both configuration for PCI at
either side. ?
If it is USB interface , does linux support this at either side ?

Thanks and Regards,
Renjith

Renjith,

Is there any fundamental reason that you have chosen PCI as the means for
communicating between the 2 DM6467's ?

What are your needs w.r.t throughput, latency etc. in such a communication.

Have you looked at using other means such as USB.

Subject: Davinci PCI module

Hi ,

I have a requirement on making 2 Davinci Chips (6467 x2), one for decoding
purpose and the other for encoding multiple channels.

Here out intension is to connect both the Chips with PCI interface , One as
master and the other as slave. Have anybody done like this before ?
What is the Driver configuration that we need to select in Linux ?
Just selecting the Davinci PCI driver module for both device will do the needed.
Or Is there special drivers we need to use for both separately ? Most of the
Hardware Pins looks Bi-Directional, and is there any additional Glue Logic
needs to be used for interconnecting the Slave and Master (Both in h/w and S/w)
?
I am a newbie in this. ANY suggestions appreciated.
