Zhong:
UDB means "Universal Data Base".
"Universal" is a word with many meanings. One is "all the world, all 
countries".
Other, which is the appropriate in this case, means "the one fits all".
Emphasizes the fact that DB2 runs in (almost) all computers of all sizes 
and all operating systems, and also that DB2 can perform all tasks, like 
multimedia and the like.
